Chamber gearing up for busy spring
March 17, 2010
It looks like Spring may finally be here! After a long winter it is nice to see the sun shine and hear the birds chirping. It is especially exciting to know that summer is fast approaching. It is a great time of year to take a walk downtown or visit one of the shopping complexes to do a little shopping or eat at one of the restaurants Imlay City has to offer.
Blueberry Auction & Spaghetti Dinner
It is hard to believe that it is that time of year again. The Blueberry Committee is working hard to plan for this year's 30th annual Blueberry Festival. The auction will take place March 20 at the Countryside Banquet Center. The auction also includes a spaghetti dinner fundraiser. All the proceeds help to fund the Blueberry Festival. The doors will open at 5 p.m., dinner at 5:30 p.m. and the auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. There are some great items this year to bid on. Businesses have been very generous this year in their donations. We thank them for all their support. Some of the items available are: various gift baskets, golf package, hotel stays, collectibles, sports items, car products, fan, door, propane tank, electric toothbrush, gift certificates to area businesses, theatre tickets, movie posters, framed art, UPS mailbox, one free year rent at a storage unit, Red Wing shoes, massage gift certificates, car wash certificates, various auto service certificates, teeth bleaching trays, furniture, doors, childrens birthday party packages, septic cleaning, and much more. Look for our ad in this paper and check online for an up to date list of items at imlaycitymich.com.
Tickets for the spaghetti dinner and auction are available in advance at my office, Trendsetters Salon, or The Learning Depot for $5/person. Tickets can also be purchased at the door. Ticket price includes the auction and a spaghetti dinner. A cash bar will be available.
If you would like to become a sponsor for the 2010 Blueberry Festival please contact me at the Chamber 810-724-1361.
Lunch N' Learn
This month we tried something new for our monthly networking meeting called Lunch N' Learn. It was held at Countryside Banquet Center and featured Dale Ellery, PC who presented "Tax Tips." The event was sponsored by Employment Builders Alliance, Lapeer Republican Party, and Goodwill Industries. We were also able to honor American Tree, Inc. and Dale Ellery P.C. both for 20 years of business. It is an honor to have these businesses as members of our Chamber and we are very proud of their accomplishment of being in businesses so long. We wish them many years of continued success.
Good Morning Imlay City
On April 14 from 7:30-9 a.m. we will be hosting our Good Morning Imlay City at Big Boy in Imlay City. Tom Lupo will be there to present "Property Assessment Procedures for Government Use." If you would like to become a sponsor of this event please contact me. To register for this event please contact me at 810-724-1361 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
