That staked Capac to a 26-14 cushion at the halftime break.
When play resumed, Capac picked up where it left off.
Aided by a 16-13 third quarter edge, Capac widened the gap to 42-27 at the 24-minute mark.
Imlay City then outscored Capac 22-15 the rest of the way, only to drop a 57-49 outcome.
Matt Burgess collected 16 points, including a trifecta, and Tanner Turnbull supplied 11, featuring three treys, to lead Capac. The Chiefs also received points courtesy of Anthony Closurdo and Josh Harvey (nine each), Josh Messner (eight, with two triples) and Sean O'Brien (four).
Aaron Thompson paced Imlay City with 21 points. He was backed by Matt Van Dyk (16 points), Ben Rodak (six), Eric Harbin (three), PJ Crow (two) and Shane Lesniak (one).
