Almont rolls past Richmond, 55-29

ALMONT — Almont earned a 55-29 win against visiting Richmond in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity girls' basketball confrontation last Friday night.

With the result, Almont moves to 9-4 overall and 7-1 as far as BWAC matchups are concerned.

In Friday's confrontation, Almont grabbed a 12-10 edge after one quarter was complete.

The next eight-minute stretch would see Almont add to its lead.

It was there Almont netted 11 points and Richmond managed six.

That left Almont holding a 23-16 edge at the halftime break.

When the action resumed, Almont continued to pull away.

Thanks to a 21-8 third quarter advantage, Almont raised its lead to 44-24 at the 24-minute mark.

Almont then outscored Richmond 11-5 during the last eight minutes of action, putting the finishing touches on a 55-29 win.

Nikki Heim (12 points, including a pair of trifectas), Taylor Askins (11, featuring three treys) and Tasha Evans (10) proved Almont's toughest players to stop. They were backed by Brittany Schmalzel and Dani Reid (six points each), Nicole Gibson and Katie Porter (four apiece) along with Lindsay Ladzinski (two).

Jackie Marques paced Richmond that evening. Marques finished with a seven-point performance.
