IMLAY CITY — Millie Velez (17 points), Taelor Webb (11) and Anne Pawlaczyk (10, including a pair of trifectas) hit for double figure outputs, helping host Imlay City post a 58-34 win against Capac in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity girls' basketball meeting last Friday night.
With the final, Imlay City improves to 7-4 and 4-2. Capac falls to 2-10 and 0-6.
In Friday's meeting, Imlay City bolted out to a 15-3 advantage after one quarter was done.
Not content with that cushion, Imlay City followed it up with a 17-9 second quarter edge and a 12-11 third quarter advantage.
That raised Imlay City's lead to 44-23 at the 24-minute mark.
Imlay City then outscored Capac 14-11 the rest of the way, good enough for a 58-34 win at night's end.
Besides the aforementioned trio, Imlay City had three others connect. Their ranks consisted of Jaclyn Van Dyk (nine points), Mandy Lacertosa (eight, featuring a pair of treys and Chandler Katkic (three).
Chelsea Botwin (11 points, with three triples) and Ashley Mousseau (nine, including three trifectas) proved Capac's top offensive threats. They were given assistance in the scoring department by Jill Lauwers (four points), Nina Dalecki and Katelyn Kain (three each) along Gianna Sabatino and Nichole Parks (two apiece).
