Richmond ends lengthy road drought with win over Capac


Blue Devils squeak past Chiefs, 35-33

CAPAC — Richmond netted their first road win against Capac in what is believed to be a 22-year span, accomplishing the feat with a 35-33 Blue Water Area Conference varsity boys' basketball triumph last Friday night.

With the outcome, Richmond goes to 7-1 and 4-0. Capac slips to 5-2 and 2-1.

In Friday's battle, Richmond and Capac concluded the initial quarter with seven-point outputs.

The second quarter would see the points come not as often.

It was there Richmond netted five points, while allowing Capac three.

That staked Richmond to a 12-10 edge at the halftime break.

When the action resumed, Capac bounced back with a 13-10 third quarter edge.

That left Capac holding a 23-22 lead at the 24-minute mark.

Richmond then countered with a 13-10 advantage during the last eight minutes of action, leaving the floor with a 35-33 win to their credit.

Dustin Dagostino paced Richmond that evening. Dagostino finished with a 12-point performance.

Matt Burgess (11 points) proved the toughest Capac player to contain. The Chiefs also had Mitchell Parks (eight points), Josh Messner (seven, including a trifecta), Anthony Closurdo (four) and Josh Harvey (a trey) reach the scoring column.
