January 13, 2010 ATTICA — Police on Saturday afternoon arrested up the 49-year-old man who'd evaded their capture on Friday afternoon.
Alan John Miller was picked up at 3 p.m. on Saturday, reports the Lapeer County Sheriff's Dept. in a press release.
Miller was wanted on charges of assault with a firearm stemming from an incident that occured around 2 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 15. Later that afternoon, Miller evaded police after driving his vehicle onto Elk Lake and fleeing on foot. A six hour search by police from the Oakland County Sheriff's Dept. Special Response Team and Lapeer City K-9 failed to locate Miller.
According to the press release, around 7:30 a.m. on Saturday deputies learned that Miller was alone at a residence on Attica Road in Attica Twp. Police set up a perimerter to observe the location while awaiting the arrival of the Oakland County Sheriff's Dept. SRT and Lapeer City police K-9 officer.
Using an armored vehicle from the Warren Police Dept, the Oakland County SRT approached the residence, says the press release.
"Negotiators made phone contact with Alan Miller, who convinced him to walk outside and give up," the press release says.
