CAPAC — Marlette bolted out to a 14-0 advantage with 2:36 elapsed, laying the foundation for a 68-26 win against Capac in a semifinal meeting Monday night at the Harry C. Moore Classic Girls' Varsity Basketball Tournament.

In Monday's meeting, Marlette charged out to a 23-2 advantage after one quarter was complete.
The middle two quarters saw Marlette amass 30 total points, while Capac netted 17.
That made it 53-19, Marlette, at the 24-minute mark.
Marlette then outscored Capac 15-7 the rest of the way, closing out a 68-26 win.
Jenna Hirsch (17 points, with a triple) paced Marlette. Rachel McEwen (12 points) and Kristen Hirsch (10, including a pair of trifectas) hit for double figures as well.
Chelsea Botwin and Jennica Polzin (seven points, featuring a trey, each) topped Capac. They were backed by Ashley Mousseau (four points) along with Samantha Smith, Shawna McMann, Nichole Parks and Nina Dalecki (two each).
Capac (2-5) returns to action Wednesday, December 30 when it squares off against North Branch in the consolation game of the Harry C. Moore Classic Girls' Varsity Basketball Tournament. That matchup lists a noon starting time.
