CAPAC — The Capac wrestling team earned a first-place finish last Saturday at the Marlette Invitational.
Capac outscored their opposition 299-76 en route to the title, their second (they also won a week earlier at their own invite) of the 2009-10 campaign. Their tournament run included an 84-0 victory over Sandusky; a 72-6 triumph against North Branch; a 59-17 win over Cass City; a 47-22 victory against Imlay City; and a 37-31 triumph over Marlette.
Gideon Gaiter (125), Joshua Kaiser (140), Brian Kulman (145), Derek Gottschalk (160), Thomas Bolday (189), Tom Ray (285) and Pat White (285) led Capac with 5-0 marks that day.
For his performance, Bolday was named the MVP of the upper weight classes.
Brandon Schalm (130), Josh Tucker (160) and Ed Niemi (171) added 4-1 records to Capac's cause.
Mykle Dedenbach (112), Matt Schuman (119), Aaron Smith (152) and Chris Bly (215) added 3-2 marks to Capac's cause.
With the results, Capac now stands at 13-1 overall.
