CAPAC — Matt Burgess (24) and Josh Messner (19, including four field goals of the three-point variety) combined for 43 points, leading host Capac to a 76-69 triumph against Lutheran North in a non-conference varsity boys' basketball battle on Tuesday, December 8.
With the result, Capac goes to 1-0 overall. Lutheran North drops to 0-1 this season.
In Tuesday's battle, Capac spotted Lutheran North a 23-18 lead after one quarter was done.
Quarter number two saw Capac collect 23 points, while holding Lutheran North to 17.
That left Capac clinging to a 41-40 lead at the halftime break.
When the action resumed, Lutheran North struck with a 17-9 third quarter advantage.
That left Lutheran North holding a 57-50 lead at the 24-minute mark.
Capac then bounced back with a 26-12 fourth quarter rally, earning a 76-69 win at Lutheran North's expense.
Besides the aforementioned duo, Capac had two others contribute double figure outputs. Their ranks consisted of Anthony Closurdo (11, featuring a trey) and Josh Harvey (10).
Mitch Parks nearly became the fifth Capac player to accumulate a double figure point total, hitting for nine. Mike Burgess supplied the remaining three Chief points.
Matt Burgess and Parks contributed the highest Capac rebound outputs, grabbing seven missed shots apiece.
Capac also received nine assists courtesy of Harvey.
