Clark, Rochester reach quarters of the USCAA National Tournament

CAPAC — The Rochester College women's volleyball team, which counts Capac High School graduate Jackie Clark (a 5-10 junior outside hitter) among its ranks reached the quarterfinal round of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Championship Tournament recently.

Spalding University, in Louisville, Kentucky, hosted the tournament which ran November 5-7.

Rochester College started things off with a 25-12, 15-25, 25-17 pool play win against Florida College, the eventual national champions.

A few hours later, Rochester College dropped a 23-25, 25-19, 25-27 verdict to Southern Virginia University, the eventual national runnerups.

On Saturday, Rochester College resumed pool play with a 25-21, 25-16 victory over Talledega. They then went to 3-1, thanks to a 25-13, 25-13 triumph against Penn State University-Fayette.

Those aforementioned outcomes netted Rochester College a quarterfinal appearance where UC Clermont provided their opposition.

When the final point hit the floor, UC Clermont advanced with an 18-25, 25-23, 25-15, 13-25, 15-12 win.
