November 04, 2009
IMLAY CITY — Second-ranked Detroit Country Day ended Imlay City's season, 3-0, in a Division 3 boys' soccer regional championship confrontation last Friday.

Pontiac Notre Dame Prep High School is where the action unfolded.

"It was a great run for us," Imlay City Coach Eric Schwalbe, who watched his team's outstanding 19-4-1 season reach an endpoint, commented. "To win our first district title and make it to the regional championship is a great accomplishment," he noted.

"I am proud of them all. We can hold our heads high knowing we gave it our best shot."

In Friday's battle for regional honors, Detroit Country Day grabbed a 2-0 advantage at the halftime break.

Detroit Country Day then outscored Imlay City 1-0 during the last 40 minutes of action, closing out a 3-0 win.

Jonathan Torres handled the goalkeeping chores for Imlay City that evening. Torres was credited with a nine-save performance.
