Almont boys' cross country wins title


Raiders use team depth to capture Brown City honors

TRI-CITY AREA — Dylan Creger pulled up second with a 17:09 clocking and David Burkland took ninth with a time of 19:16, leading the Almont boys' cross country team to a first last Wednesday at the Brown City Invitational.

Almont's winning total that day was 48 points. They were followed by Yale (57 points), Marlette (100), Bad Axe (129), Lapeer East (146), Capac (149), Imlay City (165), Richmond (166), North Branch (194) and Deckerville (296).

Brown City and Harbor Beach also participated but did not field complete lineups.

James Strachan, 11th, 19:17; supplied the next best Almont outing that day. Josh Klebba, 14th, 19:31; and Joel Bock, 17th, 19:41; rounded out the Raiders' scoring group.

Chris Paluch, 21st, 20:05; paced Capac. The Chiefs also counted results from Gideon Gaiter, 22nd, 20:06; Tyler Sawicki, 26th, 20:21; Kody Kurtzhals, 43rd, 22:05; and Justin McDonald, 44th, 22:14.

Alan Manjarrez, 13th, 19:26; led Imlay City. Troy Harbin, 33rd, 20:45; Jacob Grappin, 36th, 21:17; Tyler Walla, 40th, 21:37; and Austen Cuthbertson, 57th, 23:06; rounded out the Spartans' scoring group.
