August 19, 2009 For the past couple of weeks we've been on the viewing end of the camera snapping photos at the Blueberry Festival and Eastern Michigan Fair in Imlay City.
After last weekend's flooding rain, power outages and raging storms we found ourselves most appreciatively on the other end of the lens as readers sent their on-the-scene shots of flooding and storm damage around the area.
Readers like Janis Grant, Norman Bliss and Lorie Smith of Almont, Belinda Wagner of Dryden, Imlay City Fire Chief Kip Reaves and Kathy Volmering, Kristina Kiss, Raymond Abbe, Dan Weingartz, Jeff Schutz and Allen Woodworth of Imlay City and Mark and Cathy Madeline and John Topie of Attica helped offer firsthand accounts and perspectives of the storms' toll on the area. It's this type of community involvement that allows us to provide our readers with the local coverage they look for and desire.
As is the case with some of the multitude of photos we walk away with from the festival and fairs, readers can visit www.tricitytimes-online for photos that didn't make it into the print edition; send photos over the Web or simply share a thought or two.
We are rewarded through reader involvement, a much appreciated key element in our efforts to tell your stories and reflect the events in the area as they unfold.
Keep those welcome photos, letters and story ideas coming!
