Strouse takes track skills to Adrian

ALMONT — Ben Strouse, a 2009 graduate of Almont High School, will compete for the Adrian College men's track team next season.

He attracted their attention by enjoying a success-laden senior campaign as Almont's most accomplished weight event performer.

Strouse's best event was the shot put where he uncorked a winning toss of 50 feet 8 1/2 inches Tuesday, May 19 at the Algonac High School-based Blue Water Area Conference League Meet.

His list of accomplishments included firsts at the Lapeer County Meet hosted by North Branch High School and at the Algonac High School-based Blue Water Area Conference League Meet; joined forces with Dillon Melly and Joseph Tersigni-Witham for a first at the Tri-City Times Capac Relays; combined with Melly, Samantha Gomez and Kelsey Murphy for a shot put relay first at the Almont Coed Relays; teamed up with Melly for a shot put relay second at the Lake Fenton Relays; plus furnished seconds at a Division 3 regional hosted by New Haven High School and at the O'Connor Realty Meet of Champions in Marysville.

He also earned the right to compete in the event at the Division 3 state finals hosted by Comstock Park High School.

When it came to the discus event, Strouse proved a formidable competitor as well.

There Strouse generated a throw encompassing 151 feet 3 inches of territory on his way to a first at Tuesday, May 19 at the Blue Water Area Conference League Meet hosted by Algonac High School.

His list of accomplishments included a first at the Algonac High School-based Blue Water Area Conference League Meet; teamed up with Dillon Melly, Samantha Gomez and Kelsey Murphy for a discus relay first at the Almont Coed Relays; collected seconds by himself at the Lapeer County Meet hosted by North Branch High School and at a New Haven High School-based Division 3 regional; combined with Melly for a discus relay second at the Lake Fenton Relays; plus joined forces with Melly and Joseph Tersigni-Witham for a discus relay second at The Tri-City Times Capac Relays.

Strouse also competed in the event at the Division 3 state finals. Comstock Park High School is where the action unfolded.

He joins an Adrian College squad which took fourth place at the MIAA Field Day this past spring.
