Another success story for volunteers, city

August 05, 2009
For the past 29 years a small town has shown its big heart by opening the streets to the community and visitors for the annual Blueberry Festival in Imlay City.

Months of preparation by a handful of volunteers culminates in a two day event that is enjoyed by families and friends—people of all generations.

It has also become a pivotal planning tool and meeting point for Imlay City High School graduates, who come from across the country and the globe to reunite and celebrate. The Imlay City Schools Alumni Association Secretary Marilyn Swihart has a lot to do with the success of those reunion ventures, sorting and keeping valuable information on Imlay City grads.

From the pies to the parade it seems the whole town gets together to enjoy a free event and put their best foot forward for friends and strangers alike.

We're proud to be a part of a community that continues a tradition aimed at family fun and local history.

Congratulations to the volunteer planners and organizers of yet another highly successful Blueberry Festival, an event that highlights the big benefits of small town living.
