Five local players compete for team in Cooperstown

The Lapeer Outlaws 12 U baseball team competed at Cooperstown Dreams Park in New York recently. TRI-CITY AREA — The Lapeer Outlaws 12 and Under baseball team, which counts several players with ties to the Tri-City Area among their ranks, went 6-1 at the Cooperstown Dreams Tournament recently in Cooperstown, New York.

The tournament was contested June 28-July 1.

The Lapeer Outlaws began their seven-game tournament stint with a 9-2 triumph against the Ajax Spartans on June 28.

The following day the Lapeer Outlaws improved to 3-0, thanks to a 16-0 win over the Hudson Explorers and a 10-2 victory against Vineyarders.

On June 30, their results proved equally impressive. That day they rolled to a 20-3 triumph over the Vestavia Rebels and handed the Brookefield Bulldogs an 8-0 setback.

The following day the Lapeer Outlaws improved to 6-0 with an 11-4 win against the East Hawaii Canefires.

The Lapeer Outlaws then closed out their tournament run with a 17-0 setback to the North Gwinnett Bulldogs.

Wyatt Bannister (Attica), Parker Fisher (Attica), Michael Rinke (Dryden), Zach Stone (Imlay City) and Brad Woloszyk (Attica) were the players with ties to the Tri-City Area on the Lapeer Outlaws' squad.

Jake Spivy (Lapeer), Grant Rook (Davison), Tyler Wills (Lapeer), Zak Spivy (Lapeer), Dalton Blackwell (Lapeer) and Pete Kennedy (Milford) rounded out the team's roster.
