CAPAC — Kenny Randall, a graduate of Capac High School, teed it up last Thursday at a Michigan PGA Buick Open Pre-Qualifier Tournament.

Fieldstone Golf Club, in Auburn Hills, served as the tournament venue.

To participate there, competitors had to carry a verified 2.0 or better handicap over at least 15 rounds.

Randall, who was paired with Elkhart, Indiana's Keith Pasqualone, and Meridian, Mississippi's LaEllis Crowther, teed off at 2:10 p.m. that day.

The threesome played under less than ideal conditions, encountering a rain that seldom let up during their tour of the challenging layout.

Randall finished with an 84 over 18 holes. The performance included a front-nine of 41 and a back-nine of 43.

That left him second in his group, ahead of Crowther's 91 and behind Pasqualone's 81.

JR Roth, of Flint, paced the field assembled with a 67 that day. His effort featured a front-nine of 32 and a back-nine of 35.

The top-50 players, plus ties, advanced to a Monday, July 27 Buick Open Qualifier. That tournament was hosted by Fieldstone Golf Club as well. It took a 73 to move on to that event.

A total of 137 competitors comprised the field of the Michigan PGA Buick Open Pre-Qualifier.
