June 03, 2009 IMLAY CITY — A 5-0 second half advantage and a 1-0 opening half edge enabled Richmond to net a 6-0 win at Imlay City's expense in a Division 3 district girls' soccer championship matchup last Saturday afternoon.
With the outcome, Richmond (19-1-1) moves on to a Tuesday, June 2 regional semifinal clash at Detroit Country Day High School where it will square off versus Notre Dame Prep. That encounter lists a 7:30 p.m. starting time. Imlay City finishes at 9-11-3.
"It was a 1-0 game at the half," Imlay City Coach Rick Lee mentioned. "We came out ready to play and battled them tough the opening 40 minutes," he noted.
"The game stayed close until Richmond scored four times during a three-minute span to establish some breathing room. Their run started with 28:23 to play. Richmond then added one more goal at the end of the game to close out the 6-0 win. We gave it all we had, that is all you can ask for."
