Almont takes fifth at BWAC Meet

May 27, 2009TRI-CITY AREA — The Almont, Imlay City and Capac girls' track squads generated respective finishes of fifth, sixth and seventh at the Blue Water Area Conference League Meet hosted by Algonac High School on Tuesday, May 19.
Yale (148 points) earned the distinction of meet champion that day. They were followed by Cros-Lex (118 points), Algonac (63), Richmond (55), Almont (45), Imlay City (42), Capac (27) and Armada (25).
Marie Burkland, 1600 (5:34.24) and 3200 runs (11:95.03); led Almont with a pair of individual event seconds.
The Almont 3200 relay pulled up second as well. It took them 10:17.48 to accomplish the feat.
Cassidy Downing, 100 (13.52 seconds) and 400-meter dashes (1:05.23); provided Almont with individual event fourths.
The Almont 1600 relay wound up fourth as well. They needed 4:28.08 to cover the territory.
Lauren Deneweth, 800 (2:31.72) and 1600-meter runs (5:47.53) supplied Almont with individual event fifths.
The Almont 800 relay ranked fifth as well. It took them 2:07.6 to accomplish the feat.
Sam Gomez, discus, 83 feet 10 inches; plus Scotti Langley, 800 (2:37.34) and 1600-meter runs (5:48.94); rounded out the list of Almont placewinners with sixths.
Stephanie Francis, pole vault, 8 feet; paced Imlay City with an individual event first.
The Imlay City 400 relay wound up with a number one showing as well. It took them 54.41 to complete their circuit of the track.
Millie Velez, shot put, 29 feet 8 inches; gave Imlay City an individual event second.
The Imlay City 800-meter relay garnered a third, thanks to a clocking of 1:57.47.
Mandy Lacertosa, 3200 run, 12:24.31; provided Imlay City with an individual event fourth.
Courtney Martin, long jump, 13 feet 7 1/4 inches; generated the lone Imlay City fifth.
Taelor Webb, 100-meter dash, 13.65 seconds; contributed an individual event sixth to Imlay City's cause.
Imlay City's 1600 relay pulled up sixth as well. It took them 4:40.72 to get the job done.
Jennica Polzin, 100-meter dash, 12.91 seconds; led Capac with an individual event second.
The Capac 400 relay ranked second as well. They stopped the watch with a clocking of 54.81 seconds.
Sarah Burgess, pole vault, 8 feet; furnished the lone Capac third.
Kaitlynn Reeve, 200-meter dash, 28.65 seconds; provided Capac with a fifth.
A 3200 relay lineup rounded out the list of Capac placewinners with a sixth. They were timed in 12:19.65.
