'Change' voted in area school board elections

TRI-CITY AREA — Voters felt the urge for change when they headed to the polls on Tuesday, May 5.

In Imlay City, Dan Campbell bested incumbent Ellen Harbin for a four-year term. Campbell registered 470 votes to Harbin's 377.

Of three candidates vying for a one-year term, Michael Juip emerged with the most votes, 329, followed by Ann-Marie Giglio with 260 and Susan Walters with 258.

In Capac, incumbents Walter 'Mike' Lentz and James Crane lost their bids for re-election.

Newcomers Barry Geliske and Norm McDunnah will take their seats on the board.

Geliske had 292 votes, McDunnah got 278, Crane had 229, Lentz 227, Mary Ransom 132, Larry Tullio 68 and Loralee Pilllsbury 20.

Imlay City School's 18 mill non-homestead renewal was passed 656 to 236.

Capac's Headlee rollback restoration proposal also passed with a 367 to 244 tally.
