TRI-CITY AREA — The Almont, Imlay City and Dryden girls' track squads brought home respective finishes of fourth, fifth and eighth from the Lapeer County Meet last Friday.
North Branch High School is where the action unfolded.
Lapeer East (126 1/3 points) paced the eight-team field assembled. They were followed by North Branch (122 points), Marlette (90), Almont (58), Imlay City (50 1/3), Lapeer West (46 1/3), Lakeville (31) and Dryden (one).
Marie Burkland, 1600 (5:38.84) and 3200 (12:28.5) runs; and Lauren Deneweth, 800-meter run, 2:30.71; led Almont with individual event firsts.
The Almont 1600 relay of Cassidy Downing, Scotti Langley, Deneweth and Burkland prevailed as well. It took them 4:31.46 to accomplish the feat.
Langley, 800-meter run, 2:34.78; claimed the lone Almont second.
Sam Gomez, discus, 83 feet; gave Almont a fourth.
Kelsey Murphy, discus, 70 feet 9 inches; and Downing, 200 (29.17 seconds) and 400 (1:06.37) dashes; rounded out the list of Almont placewinners with fifths.
Stephanie Francis, pole vault, 8 feet; and Mandy Lacertosa, 3200-meter run, 12:32.76; paced Imlay City with seconds.
Michelle Marcial, 300 hurdles, 53.92 seconds; supplied the lone Imlay City third.
Taelor Webb, 100 ( 13.81 seconds) and 400-meter (1:06.14) dashes; and Mikayla Pardon, 800 (2:44.63) and 1600 (6:06.28) runs; provided Imlay City with outright individual event fourths.
The Imlay City 3200-meter relay of Ashton Tripp, Sarah Bennett, Lacertosa and Pardon checked in with a fourth as well. They required 11:22.96 to cover the territory.
Jennifer Jerzewski contributed a three-way tie for a high jump fourth to Imlay City's cause. She posted a clearance of 4 feet 6 inches en route.
Millie Velez, shot put, 28 feet 9 1/2 inches; provided the lone Imlay City individual event fifth.
The 400 relay of Cassondra Durfee, Kassie Brozowski, Andrea Gould and Marcial notched a fifth as well. They needed 57.28 seconds to accomplish the feat.
Webb, 200-meter dash, no time available; and Jerzewski, 300 hurdles, 56.62 seconds; generated Imlay City's individual event sixths.
An 800-meter relay lineup consisting of Jaclyn Van Dyk, Courtney Martin, Caley Campbell and Gould wound up sixth as well. They stopped the watch at 2:10.55 en route.
Selina Paupert posted the top Dryden showing. Paupert took sixth among 800 run entrants, requiring 2:48.91 to cover the territory.
