ALMONT — The Almont girls' tennis team opened their 2009 season with a second-place finish at the MSU Indoor Tournament which began last Friday at 6:30 p.m. and ended Saturday at 12:30 a.m.
When the final scores were tallied, Battle Creek Pennfield's 19-point total proved tops. Almont was a close second, thanks to a 17-point total, and Portland tallied 12 for third. Greenville (zero points) rounded out the four-team field assembled.

Michelle Fox (second singles) and Claire Turvill (third singles) provided Almont with individual flight firsts that day. Each fashioned a 3-0 mark along the way.
Kristen Brinker and Melissa Wilber claimed second doubles honors for Almont. Brinker and Wilber put together a 3-0 record en route.
Bobbi Enos (first singles) and Courtney Braun (fourth singles) gave Almont individual flight seconds. Each furnished a 2-1 mark along the way.
Christiana Simian and Jaime Ligon attained runnerup status as Almont's number one doubles combination. They finished 2-1 on the day.
