The dispatcher said the 911 caller indicated that equipment was housed in the barn, as was a large propane tank.
As firefighters battled the blaze—which generated a black cloud of heavy smoke that was visible from about 2-3 miles away, Central Dispatch received a second 911 call reporting another fire.
Around 2 p.m. Attica firefighters were asked to respond to a basement fire in the 5600 block of Sutton Road. Dryden firefighters were called in for a full assist.
Scanner traffic indicated firefighters were anticipating the potential need for more water, however radio reports reflected firefighters brought both blazes quickly under control.
