Lutheran North makes Imlay City absorb a 61-46 non-league loss

IMLAY CITY — Lutheran North netted a 61-46 road win at Imlay City's expense in a non-league varsity boys' basketball meeting last Thursday night.

With the result, Imlay City improves to 14-6 overall. Lutheran North drops to 12-8 this season.

In Thursday's meeting, Lutheran North and Imlay City concluded the first quarter with 10 points apiece.

Quarter number two would see Lutheran North collect 18 points, while allowing Imlay City 16.

That staked Lutheran North to a 28-26 edge at the halftime break.

When the action resumed, Imlay City fought back with a 12-11 third quarter advantage.

That made it 39-38, Lutheran North, with 24 minutes into the record books.

Lutheran North then outscored Imlay City 22-8 from that point on, assuring themselves of a 61-46 win when the final buzzer sounded.

Eric Strange led Lutheran North. He finished with 12 points.

Alex Maldonado (23 points, including three trifectas) paced Imlay City. The remaining Spartan points went to Aaron Thompson (eight), Adam Van Dyk (six), Darren Saunders (five), Eric Ebert (three) and Brad Kramek (one).

Saunders added the highest Imlay City rebounding output, grabbing five.

Imlay City also received three steals apiece from Van Dyk and Thompson.

Eric Strange paced Lutheran North. He finished with 12 points.
