Imlay City's season concludes with loss to Notre Dame Prep

IMLAY CITY — Notre Dame Prep used a 14-2 fourth quarter advantage to turn back Imlay City in a Class B girls' district basketball matchup it hosted last Wednesday night.

With the result, Notre Dame Prep advances to a Friday, March 6 championship game where it will meet Armada. That clash lists a 7 p.m. starting time. Imlay City finishes at 6-15.

In Wednesday's matchup, Notre Dame Prep took a 13-11 lead after one quarter was complete.

Quarter number two saw Notre Dame Prep deposit nine points through the twines, while allowing Imlay City three.

That staked Notre Dame Prep to a 22-14 cushion at the halftime break.

When the action resumed, Imlay City stormed back with a 12-1 third quarter edge.

That made it 26-23, Imlay City, with 24 minutes into the record books.

Notre Dame Prep then bounced back with a 14-2 advantage during the last eight minutes of action, good enough for a 37-28 win at night's end.

Abby Pilarski and Brooke Borowski led Notre Dame Prep with 10 points apiece.

For Imlay City, Millie Velez's 10-point performance proved tops. The Spartans also received points courtesy of Anne Pawlaczyk (six, including a pair of trifectas), Taylor Lee and Taelor Webb (five each) along with Kali Van Dyk (two).
