March 04, 2009 So--oo, "Hello again.'' I took a tumble while out for my late afternoon walk with Daisy. Contrary to reports, Daisy was not near me. I simply slipped on icy snow and down I went! Florida or Texas next winter? Sounds like a plan.
I was wearing my Lifeline button and soon Alan and the EMS arrived. In the meantime I was yelling, "Help me, please help me!'' with my Daisy girl laying beside me. I was whisked to Lapeer and am now in the Transitional Unit of Lapeer Regional Medical Center, with a fractured left hip.
I get good care, can't even complain about the food.
They say I am doing good — sure am trying!
I am appreciating your prayers, cards and visits.
Onward and upward!
— Country Cousin
P.S. I had just made chocolate chip cookies. The "Gang'' put Daisy in my apartment, didn't return for several hours and not one cookie was taken. Daisy is staying with Paula Alfonsi, and they have visited me twice!
Editor's note: Some readers have inquired as to how to send get well wishes to our Country Cousin while she recouperates from a broken hip. You may send cards and notes to: Gertie Brooks, 124 Kidder Road, Almont, MI 48003.
