TRI-CITY AREA — Imlay City and Capac will send one grappler each on to the upcoming Division 3 individual state wrestling finals set for March 12-14 at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

They earned the right to test their mat skills there with top-four weight class showings last Saturday at a regional hosted by Williamston High School.

Kevin Ahrens logged the top showing among Tri-City competitors on hand. Ahrens reached the 140-pound championship match, falling by a narrow 8-5 count to Richmond's Brian Henke.

Tom Bolday, of Capac, wound up with a fourth to show for his efforts. Bolday advanced to the 189-pound consolation final where he dropped a 4-2 verdict to Vassar's Mike Tebedo.
