Capac nets a 39-27 road win over rival Imlay City

CAPAC — Capac earned a 39-27 road win at Imlay City's expense in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity girls' basketball encounter last Friday night.

With the final, Capac improves to 3-11 and 2-6. Imlay City slips to 4-9 and 2-6.

In Friday's encounter, Capac jumped out to a 16-4 advantage after one quarter was done.

The second quarter saw Imlay City start to mount a comeback.

It was there Imlay City tallied 14 points, while holding Capac to six.

That made it 22-18, Capac, at the halftime break.

When the action resumed, Imlay City inched even closer.

Aided by a 6-4 third quarter edge, Imlay City whittled their deficit to 26-24 with 24 minutes into the record books.

Capac then outscored Imlay City 13-3 over the last eight minutes of play, good enough for a 39-27 win when the clock zeroed out for the last time.

Ashley Mousseau (11 points, including two field goals of the three-point variety) led Capac. The Chiefs also received points courtesy of Jennica Polzin (eight, featuring a trey), Katelyn Kain (six), Taylor Sinda (five), Gabby Sabatino (four), Courtney Baldwin (a triple) and Gianna Sabatino (two).

Taelor Webb paced Imlay City with seven points. Their remaining points went to Anne Pawlaczyk (six), Taylor Palermo (four, including a field goal of the three-point variety), Kali Van Dyk (four) along with Jaclyn Van Dyk, Millie Velez and Taylor Lee (two each).
