Capac halves mat stint, beating Marysville, losing clash to Yale

CAPAC — The Capac wrestling team halved a pair of encounters last Thursday at Port Huron Northern High School.

With the results, Capac goes to 31-4 and 5-2.

Capac started their two-match stint with a 36-28 loss to Blue Water Area Conference rival Yale.

Gideon Gaiter and Brandon Lossing led Capac with victories via the pinfall route. Gaiter took 2:32 to defeat Josh Austin at 119 pounds and Lossing needed 5:29 to conquer 160-pound counterpart Nick Hunsaker.

Cody Neuman (103) provided Capac with a triumph by void.

Matt Schuman gave Capac a win via major decision, accomplishing the feat with an 18-6 outcome versus Jacob Larsh at 103 pounds.

Mike Parks and Thomas Bolday were the other Capac grapplers who emerged victorious. The former registered an 8-1 triumph against 140-pound foe Greg Palmateer and the latter obtained an 8-7 win over Jacob Jedrzejcz at 189 pounds.

Later that evening, Capac bounced back to claim a 43-30 non-league win at Marysville's expense.

A group consisting of Schuman, Gaiter, Joshua Kaiser, Parks and Ed Niemi paced Capac with victories via the pinfall route. Schuman required 3:24 to beat Clayton Smith at 103 pounds; Gaiter needed 1:10 to stop 119-pound foe Cameron Socha; Joshua Kaiser took 5:20 to upend Cam Conner at 125 pounds; Parks required 47 seconds to turn back 140-pound counterpart Trevor Robinet; and Niemi needed 29 seconds to beat Ryan St. Coeur at 171 pounds.

Lossing gave Capac a triumph by major decision, thanks to a 9-1 verdict against 160-pound rival Joel Angove.

Darren Hunsucker, Derek Gottschalk and Shawn Kaiser rounded out the list of Capac grapplers who prevailed. Hunsucker notched a 10-7 win against Drew Sanders at 145 pounds; Gottschalk secured an 11-7 victory over 152-pound adversary David Squires; and Shawn Kaiser registered a 5-3 triumph against Cameron Roehl at 215 pounds.
