TRI-CITY AREA — Alex Maldonado deposited 17 points, including a trifecta through the twines, and Darren Saunders finished with 13, featuring a trey, to propel Imlay City to a 50-36 Snowcoming win against visiting Capac in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity boys' basketball battle last Friday night.

With the final, Imlay City improves to 9-3 and 6-2. Capac falls to 5-8 and 3-5.

In Friday's battle, Imlay City grabbed a 13-10 edge after one quarter had ended.

Imlay City followed it up with a 15-7 second quarter advantage.

That staked Imlay City to a 28-17 lead at the halftime break.

Quarter number three saw Imlay City and Capac both hit for 12 points.

That made it 40-29, Imlay City, at the 24-minute mark.

Imlay City then outscored Capac 10-7 the rest of the way, putting the finishing touches on a 50-36 victory.

Besides the aformentioned duo, Imlay City received points from six other sources. Their ranks consisted of Aaron Thompson (seven points), Eric Ebert (six), Blaine Goertler, Adam Van Dyk and Steve Lesniak (two each) along with Mitchell Tietz (one).

Matt Burgess paced Capac with 10 points, draining a triple along the way. The remaining Chief points went to Rick Jones (seven, including a trifecta), Joe Johnson and Josh Messner (four apiece), Josh Harvey, Mike Burgess, Jon Botwin, Mitchell Parks and Dillon Hughes (two each) plus Anthony Closurdo (one).
