DRYDEN — Host Dryden outscored Port Hope by a combined 23-0 during the odd-numbered quarters en route to a 55-16 win in a North Central Thumb League varsity boys' basketball encounter last Thursday night.
In Thursday's encounter, Dryden jumped out to a 12-0 advantage after one quarter was complete.
Dryden followed it up with a 13-8 second quarter edge and an 11-0 third quarter cushion.
That staked Dryden to a 36-8 advantage at the 24-minute mark.
Dryden then outscored Port Hope by a 19-8 count during the last eight minutes of play, good enough for a 55-16 victory when the final second ticked off the clock.
Evan Hazen (21 points) and Matt Lynch (11) proved Dryden's toughest players to contain. The remaining Cardinal points went to Geno Volante (nine, including a trifecta), Cody Brewer (five), Chad Butler (four), Frank Calabro (three) and Cody Paupert (two).
Alex Lackowski paced Port Hope. He finished with a nine-point performance, featuring three treys.
