IMLAY CITY — A 16-5 overtime advantage proved the difference as Richmond made host Imlay City absorb a 68-57 loss in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity boys' basketball game last Friday night.
With the final, Richmond raises its mark to 9-2 and 4-2. Imlay City drops to 6-3 and 4-2.
In Friday's game, Richmond and Imlay City ended the opening quarter with identical nine-point outputs.
Quarter number two saw Imlay City put up 14 points and Richmond hit for nine.
That left Imlay City holding an 23-18 cushion at the halftime break.
When the action resumed, Richmond bounced back.

Aided by a 15-11 third quarter edge, Richmond closed the gap to 34-33 at the 24-minute mark.
Richmond followed it up with a 19-18 fourth quarter advantage.
That made it 52-52 ballgame and sent the contest on to overtime.
The extra four-minute session would belong to Richmond.
It was there Richmond tossed in 16 points, while allowing Imlay City just five.
That left Richmond with a 68-57 win to celebrate at night's end.
Matt Pozolo (13 points) led Richmond that evening. Joe Manchik and Nick Manchik (10 points, featuring a trey, each) along with Matt Schwab (10) hit for double figures as well.
Alex Maldonado (12 points, with three triples) proved Imlay City's toughest player to contain. He was backed by Darren Saunders (nine points), Blaine Goertler (eight, including a pair of trifectas), Aaron Thompson (eight), Adam Van Dyk (seven), Steve Lesniak (six), Eric Ebert (five) and Adam Rauckis (two).
