Capac grapplers gain third place at the Blue Water Classic Tourney

TRI-CITY AREA — The Capac and Almont wrestling teams pulled up third and tied for 11th last Saturday at the Blue Water Classic.

Port Huron Northern High School is where the action unfolded.

When the final scores were announced, Yale's 240-point output set the pace. They were followed by Port Huron Northern (195.5 points), Capac (189), Richmond 'B' (184), Oxford 'B' (182.5), Dakota (128.5), Anchor Bay 'B' (120), Marysville (111), Lapeer West (99), Clarkston 'B' (79), Almont and Port Huron High (75 each), Rochester 'B' (70), Memphis (50) and Sandusky (28).

Gideon Gaiter (119), Brian Kulman (140), Derek Gottschalk (152) and Thomas Bolday (171) led Capac with second-place finishes.

Ed Niemi (189) and Shawn Kaiser (215) and Pat White (285) furnished Capac's thirds.

Matt Schuman (103) rounded out the list of Capac placewinners with a fifth.

Kevin Creger collected the best Almont showing, accomplishing the feat with a fourth at 125 pounds.

Taylor Lawrence had the other Almont placewinning performance that day. Lawrence ranked fifth versus 119-pound foes.
