TRI-CITY AREA — Adam Van Dyk netted 16 points, including a trifecta, and Blaine Goertler finished with 11, featuring a trey, to lead Imlay City to a 53-47 road win against Almont in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity boys' basketball battle last Friday night.
With the outcome, Imlay City improves to 4-1 and 2-0. Almont tumbles to 0-6 and 0-2.
In Friday's battle, Imlay City grabbed a 15-11 edge after one quarter was complete.

Quarter number two saw Almont tally 19 points and Imlay City generate 15.
That made it a 30-30 contest at the halftime break.
When the action resumed, Imlay City went ahead with a 14-7 third quarter advantage.
That left Imlay City holding a 44-37 cushion at the 24-minute mark.
Almont then put together a 10-9 rally during the last eight minutes of action, only to drop a 53-47 verdict at game's end.
Besides Van Dyk and Goertler, Imlay City had seven others connect. Their ranks consisted of Aaron Thompson (nine points), Eric Ebert (seven points), Alex Maldonado (three), Steve Lesniak, Darren Saunders and Adam Rauckis (two apiece) along with Brad Kramek (one).
Ben McNally and Neal Zott paced Almont with 18 points each. The Raiders also had Brad Showalter (six points), Steve McClure (three) and Brett McDonald (two) reach the scoring column.
