Peck stops Dryden 61-47 in NCTL play

DRYDEN — Visiting Peck thwarted Dryden's upset plans, prevailing via a 61-47 count in a North Central Thumb League varsity boys' basketball confrontation Monday night.

With the decision, Dryden now stands at 1-4 overall.

In Monday's confrontation, Dryden grabbed a 13-11 edge after one quarter was complete.

Quarter number two would see both teams play on even terms.

It was there Dryden and Peck hit for 13 points each, leaving the former with a 26-24 edge at the halftime break.

When the action resumed, Peck struck with an 18-12 third quarter advantage.

That staked Peck to a 42-38 edge at the 24-minute mark.

Peck then outscored Dryden 19-9 the rest of the way, good enough for a 61-47 win when the final buzzer sounded.

Billy Burns (19 points, including a trifecta) proved Peck's toughest player to contain. Zac Overstreet (13 points) and Kolin York (10) hit for double figures as well.

Chad Butler and Joe Battisti (15 points, featuring a trey, each) paced Dryden. Their remaining points went to Matt Lynch (eight), Evan Hazen (three) along with Doug Ladner, Cody Paupert and Cody Brewer (two apiece).
