Brown City hands Almont 61-35 loss at The Palace

ALMONT — Brown City made Almont absorb a 61-35 loss in a non-league boys' basketball battle last Wednesday afternoon.

The Palace of Auburn Hills is where the action unfolded.

With the decision, Brown City goes to 2-1 overall. Almont drops to 0-3 this season.

In Wednesday's battle, Brown City bolted out to a 22-6 lead after one quarter was history.

The second quarter would see Brown City widen the gap.

It was there Brown City deposited 11 points through the twines, while allowing Almont eight.

That made it 33-14, Brown City, at the halftime break.

When the action resumed, Brown City struck with a 13-12 third quarter edge.

That pushed Brown City's lead to 46-26 at the 24-minute mark.

Brown City then outscored Almont 15-9 the rest of the way, putting the finishing touches on a 61-35 win.

Jack McPhail (21 points, featuring three treys) proved Brown City's toughest player to contain. A.J. Burton (11 points, with a triple) hit for double figures as well.

For Almont, Neal Zott's 14-point effort led the way. He was backed by Ben McNally (eight points), Steve McClure (six), Mike Grundner (a trifecta) along with Aaron May and Brad Showlalter (two each).
