December 24, 2008 I've written Kal-a-ma-zoo so many times I can't see straight and though I don't know the song all that well, I kept humming a made-up tune to the Glenn Miller song 'I've got a gal in Kalamazoo' everytime I addressed another one of those Christmas cards. Nine in all went to that fine city, two to Florida, one to Montana and the rest, somewhere in the Tri-City vicinity.
As I flipped through my address book, I pictured what their celebrations may look like. Some quiet, others boisterous. Most will converge close to home while a handful will travel through several states before reaching their destination. It's probably the traditional sit down fare for just about everyone, with a little something unique at each table.
Yep, all those miles separate us but we're connected in that there's a special day on the calendar to celebrate love, joy, peace, family and friends in the glow of that first Christmas story and, for the most part, we do it in unison. Maybe harmony's a better term. Nevertheless...Merry Christmas!
