Imlay City edges Lakeville, 28-22

IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City varsity girls' basketball team now owns a 1-1 overall mark after registering a 28-22 triumph against Lakeville in a non-conference matchup last Friday night.

In Friday's matchup, Imlay City opened up a 7-2 cushion after one quarter was history.

Quarter number two saw Imlay City collect eight points and Lakeville generate six.

That made it 15-8, Imlay City, at the halftime break.

When the action resumed, Imlay City continued to pull away.

Thanks to a 7-6 third quarter edge, Imlay City increased its cushion to 22-14 at the 24-minute mark.

Lakeville then fought back with an 8-6 fourth quarter advantage, only to fall by a 28-22 count when the final buzzer sounded.

Anne Pawlaczyk (13 points, including a trifecta) proved Imlay City's top offensive threat. The remaining Spartan points went to Taylor Lee (six, featuring a trey), Millie Velez (three) along with Kelsey Bosch, Kali Van Dyk and Taelor Webb (two apiece).

Erin Thorpe and Hayle Barden put up Lakeville's best offensive numbers. They netted nine and seven points, respectively.
