CAPAC — The Capac wrestling team fashioned a 5-0 mark en route to a top finish last Saturday at its own invitational.
Capac opened their title-producing run with a 49-21 win against Flint Kearsley. That was followed by a 66-6 victory over North Branch; a 66-15 triumph against Lakeville; a 51-23 win over West Bloomfield; and a 46-25 victory against Imlay City.
Derek Gottschalk (152), Ed Niemi (189) and Shawn Kaiser (215) led Capac with 5-0 marks that day.
Gideon Gaiter (119), Brandon Schalm (130), Mike Parks (135), Brian Kulman (140) and Clay Colwell (160) provided Capac with 4-1 records.
Matt Schuman (103), Joshua Kaiser (125), Jeff Connell (145), Thomas Bolday (171) and Pat White (285) added 3-2 marks to Capac's cause.
The Imlay City wrestling team went 3-2 on the day, good for second place.
Imlay City started things off with a 58-18 win against Lakeville. That was followed by a 39-32 victory over West Bloomfield; a 69-12 triumph against North Branch; a 42-36 loss to Flint Kearsley; and a 46-25 setback to Capac.
Mike Galanos (112), Sam Lyscas (125) and Kevin Ahrens (135/140) paced Imlay City with 5-0 records that day.
Ray Murawski (103) was the other Imlay City grappler who posted a spotless mark. He went 3-0.
Mike Waller (215) gave Imlay City a 4-1 record.
Mason Day (152/160) contributed a 3-2 mark to Imlay City's cause.
Ethan Walker (145) was the other Imlay City grapplers who finished with at least a .500 record that day. He went 2-2.
With the results, Capac improves to 7-0 overall. Imlay City now stands at 5-2 this season.
