October 29, 2008 IMLAY CITY — Mandy Lacertosa, 13th, 20:45; and Mikayla Pardon, 14th, 20:49; turned in state-qualifying performances to lead the Imlay City girls' cross country team to a seventh-place showing last Saturday at a Division 2 regional hosted by Bay City Western High School.
When the final scores were added up, Flint Powers set the pace with 47 points. Goodrich tallied 80 points, paving the way to a second, and Cros-Lex scored 98 for third.
Those three schools, along with anyone who secured a spot among the top-15 finishers, continue their postseason path this Saturday at the Brooklyn-based Division 2 state finals hosted by Michigan International Speedway. That race is slated to get underway at 2:30 p.m.
Yale and Lapeer East shared fourth at the regional level, amassing 159 points each. They were followed by West Branch Ogemaw Heights (179 points), Imlay City (183), Marysville (204), Flint Kearsley (210), North Branch (249), Lapeer West (261), Clio (280) and Mount Morris (313).
Sarah Bennett, 39th, 22:03; Taylor Lee, 58th, 23:22; and Shelby Lane, 59th, 23:27; rounded out Imlay City's top-five finishers at the meet.
