Camaj buries game-winner, Almont slips past Imlay, 2-1

TRI-CITY AREA — Martin Camaj connected on a shot from about 30 yards away which found the top left corner of the net with 17:30 to play, lifting host Almont to a 2-1 win against Imlay City in a Blue Water Area Conference boys' soccer matchup last Wednesday afternoon.

With the result, Almont improves to 11-3-1 and 9-3-1. Imlay City falls to 11-3-2 and 8-2.

In Wednesday's matchup, Almont struck first.

That happened when Aaron Schapman booted the ball into the net with 31:15 showing on the first half clock. Connor Young drew the assist there.

The remainder of half number one was scoreless.

Following the break, Imlay City acquired the equalizer when Sylvester Galeana converted a penalty kick. His tally came with 29:26 to play.

The contest would remain tied a bit longer.

Then, with 17:30 to play, Almont went ahead 2-1 when Camaj connected on a shot from about 30 yards out.

His tally would prove the last goal either side collected that day, leaving Almont with a 2-1 win to celebrate at game's end.

Mike Nadrowski went the distance as Almont's goalkeeper. Nadrowski finished with 14 saves.

Jonathan Torres handled the goalkeeping responsibilites for Imlay City that day. He was credited with seven saves.
