Dryden pushes Memphis to five-set limit in NCTL

DRYDEN — Visiting Dryden pushed a tough Memphis squad to the five-set limit, before succombing by a 21-25, 25-13, 22-25, 25-15, 10-15 count in a North Central Thumb League varsity volleyball encounter last Thursday night.

The clash took 111 minutes to complete.

Hillary Mason led Dryden, which falls to 1-1 as far as NCTL matchups are concerned, with 15 service points. The Cardinals also received points courtesy of Lynsey Marchwinski (13), Sarah DeCeuninck (10), Selina Paupert (eight), Brittney Lewis (five), Angie Kopas (three), Mandi Jones and Natalie Maynard (two each) along with Maddy Couch (one).

Mason (17) and Couch (nine) combined for 26 assists as Dryden's primary playmakers.

DeCeuninck (10 kills) proved Dryden's top net weapon. She was backed by Paupert (six kills), Cortney Lowney (four), Courtney Buckner, Maynard and Kopas (three apiece), Mason (two) along with Sandrine Simon, and Marchwinski (one each).

From a defensive standpoint, Marchwinski paced Dryden with 40 digs. Lewis (26 digs), DeCeuninck (20), Jones (11), Lowney, Couch and Maynard (seven apiece), Kopas (six) and Jackie Warner (three) followed.

Buckner supplied Dryden's highest solo block output, furnishing five. DeCeuninck and Kopas (three solo blocks each) plus Lowney, Paupert and Maynard (one apiece) supported her showing.
