TRI-CITY AREA — With only a handful of precincts left to report late Tuesday night, it appeared a close race was shaping up between Gary Howell and Kevin Daley, two of seven Republicans vying to become the 82nd District State Representative. Nearing midnight, Kevin Daley was in the lead by some 400 votes. On the other side of the ballot, Bill Marquardt was well ahead of the other two Democratic candidates.

Also in Lapeer County, it appears Sheriff Ron Kalanquin will keep his office with several hundred votes between him and fellow Republican Dale Jenkins.

Incumbent road commissioner Dale Duckert is also well ahead of challenger Jerry Hudson. Both are Republicans.

Early returns show the Suncrest millage request is on its way for approval by voters.

As for the treasurer's race, incumbent Sally Eilersen was behind in the polls to Republican challenger Dana Miller.

As for township results, Attica's Al Ochadleus will remain as supervisor, beating out two other Republicans. In Arcadia Twp., John Howell will become the new supervisor. He beat out three other Republicans. Patricia Cahoon is Arcadia's newest treasurer, defeating Daniel Winslow.

In Dryden Twp., incumbent treasurer Joyce Korson won her re-election bid.

As of 11:30 p.m., results from Almont Twp. had yet to be released. Contested races there included supervisor, clerk and four trustee seats.

Results as they become available can be found at www.electionmagic.com.
