ALMONT — Family and friends of the young college student who was injured in an accident on Wednesday on northbound M-53 are hoping the community will help find the teen's beloved dog.
Sarge, as the dog is known, is the 'best friend' of Carla Kopp, who underwent surgery at Beaumont Hospital on Thursday for injures related to the accident, says Carla's grandmother Donna Anderson of Almont.
Sarge was traveling with Carla when the accident occurred between Hough and Bordman roads around 1 p.m.
In the ensuing emergency situation, it is believed Sarge left the vehicle and ran away.
Sarge is described as a large black Doberman with a little brown coloring around his nose. He is wearing a red collar with a tag, and is very friendly. The dog normally resides in Almont with Carla's parents.
Anderson is offering a reward for the return of Sarge, and friends and relatives hope community members will pitch in to help reunite Carla with her dog.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Almont Police Department at 810-798-8300; Donna Anderson at 810-798-8622 or Paula Alfonsi of the Poochie Parlor at 586-531-4817.
