Capac 18 and Under wins All-Star title in extra innings

CAPAC — Capac went 5-0 en route to a number one showing among 18 and Under Division entries at the Capac All-Star Softball Tournament it hosted this past weekend.

The team began their title-producing run with a 5-2 win against Almont on Saturday.

Later that day, Capac met Memphis. That contest was interrupted by rain and resumed Sunday, with Capac securing a 14-1 victory.

Capac then improved to 3-0 with a 9-3 triumph against Imlay City.

The result earned Capac a semifinal round appearance versus Memphis. The clash drew to a close with Capac ahead by an 11-3 count.

Capac then tangled with Almont for first place next. That contest wound down with Capac, eking out a 5-4 win in an exciting battle lasting seven innings.

Caylyn Boadway, Samantha Smith, Cassie Spencer, Brittany Ludington, Alexis Folan, Chelsea Botwin, Kelsey Tosch, Taylor Smith, Alicia Blackstock, Courtney Rawlins comprised Capac's championship squad. They were directed to their number one finish by coaches Mark Boadway, Tim Smith and Michelle Marshall.
