Imlay City Sparks qualify for the NSA World Series

The Imlay City Sparks 12 and Under softball team took second at the Pinconning Tourney recently. IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City Sparks 12 and Under Softball squad obtained a second-place finish at the NSA Up North Slam Tournament June 13-15 in Pinconning.

With the finish, the Imlay City Sparks 12 and Under Softball squad qualifies for the NSA World Series. That event is set for July 20-27 in Peoria, Illinois.

The Imlay City Sparks started their successful tournament run with an 8-0 win against Eagles Fastpitch Gold on Friday, June 13.

That battle drew to a close after five innings when the mercy-rule was enforced.

Imlay City registered nine basehits en route to the runaway win.

The following morning the Imlay City Sparks went to 2-0, securing an 11-1 victory over the Midland Lady Explorers B squad.

That matchup ended after four innings when the mercy-rule was enforced.

Imlay City's bats proved even more productive there, amassing a 12-hit total.

Later that day, the Imlay City Sparks fell to 2-1 with a 10-5 setback to Tawas.

There Imlay City finished with six basehits.

Imlay City followed it up with an 11-1 triumph against the Pinconning Thunder on Sunday, June 15.

That encounter ended after four innings due to the mercy-rule.

Imlay City collected 11 hits en route to the favorable result.

The Imlay City Sparks then made it four wins out of five contests with a 7-1 outcome versus the Midland Lady Explorers B squad.

The team finished with 13 basehits to their credit.

That outcome landed the Imlay City Sparks a championship game appearance where they squared off versus the Midland Lady Explorers A team.

When the final out was registered, the Midland Lady Explorers A team had registered a 7-3 triumph.

Hannah Campbell, Amber Anderson, Nicole Rahn, Chander Hill, Alex Diplock, Morgan Cowell, Danielle Gill, Olivia Smith, Leah Timmer, Amanda Slack, Mariyah Evans, Gabby Webb, Amber Schwartz and Amber Miller helped make the Imlay City Sparks second-place finish possible. The team was coached by Greg Rahn and Gary Smith.
