Siewert takes 11th in discus at track finals

June 04, 2008TRI-CITY AREA — The Capac and Almont boys' track teams were held scoreless last Saturday at the Division 3 state finals hosted by Comstock Park High School.
Albion edged Allendale, 44 points to 43 for meet honors that day. They were followed by Maple Valley (35 points), Ovid-Elsie (28), Grand Rapids West Catholic and Saginaw Swan Valley (24 each), Mount Clemens (22), Berrien Springs and Napoleon (20 apiece), Perry (19), Calvin Christian (18), Montrose (16), Reese and Michigan Center (15 each), Reed City, Lakeview, Harrison and Saginaw Valley Lutheran (14 apiece), Jackson Lumen Christi (13), Manchester, Godwin Heights, Stanton Central Montcalm and Flint Beecher (12 each), Cass City, New Haven and White Cloud (11 apiece), Carson City Crystal and Hopkins (10 each), Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central and Clare (nine apiece), Clinton (eight), Evart (seven), Mason County Central, Flat Rock, Kent City, Battle Creek Pennfield, Leslie, Houghton Lake and Benzie Central (six each), Union City and Olivet (five-and-a-half apiece), Frankenmuth, Portland, Onsted and Chesaning (five each), Harbor Springs, Standish Sterling, Delton Kellogg, Hillsdale and East Jackson (four apiece), Charlevoix, Birch Run, Sanford Meridian and Bangor (three each), Ann Arbor and Kalamazoo Hackett (two apiece), Buchanan and Sandusky (one-and-a-half each), along with Marlette, Leroy-Pine River and Kingsley (one apiece).
Tino Siewert, of Capac, furnished the best showing among Tri-City competitors on hand. His discus toss of 135 feet 10 inches paid off with an 11th-place finish, just three spots away from securing All-State plaudits.
Kyle Podolan (pole vault), Ben Strouse (shot put), Dillon Melly (discus), Dylan Creger (3200-meter run and 3200 relay), Albert Sowers (3200-meter relay), Cody Corbin (3200 relay) and Don Tobias (3200-meter relay) represented Almont that day.
