Imlay boys' track team takes fifth

TRI-CITY AREA — The Imlay City, Almont and Capac boys' track squads generated respective finishes of fifth, sixth and eighth at the Blue Water Area Conference League Meet Tuesday, May 20 at Yale High School.
When the final scores were announced, Cros-Lex's 119-point total set the pace. They were followed by Yale (109 points), Algonac (83), Richmond (77), Imlay City (41), Almont (38.5), Armada (31) and Capac (28.5).
Mike Guerrero, 800 run, 2:02.74; led Imlay City with a first.
The Imlay City 1600-meter relay of Johnny Mosier, Nick Nivison, Kevin Shene and Guerrero pulled up second, requiring 3:38.25 to go the distance.
Mason Duke, shot put, 43 feet 1/4 inches; and Shene, 400 dash, 53.51 seconds; supplied Imlay City's individual event thirds.
The Imlay City 3200-meter relay of Robert Huff, E.J. Radelt, Shene and Guerrero collected a third as well. They were timed in 8:47.92 en route.
Imlay City's 800 relay of D.J. Salet, Mosier, Nivison and Guerrero wound up fifth as well. That lineup stopped the watch at 1:38.04 along the way.
E.J. Webster, high jump, 5 feet 6 inches; and Matt Marcial, long jump, 18 feet 3 1/2 inches; added sixths to Imlay City's cause.
The Imlay City 400 relay of Joey Christunas, Salet, Mosier and Nivison pulled up sixth as well. They were timed in 47.49 seconds.
Ben Strouse, shot put, 46 feet 8 inches; and Garrett Savage, 100-meter dash, 11.69 seconds; paced Almont with a first.
Dillon Melly, discus, 131 feet 8 inches; gave Almont a third.
Melly, shot put, 40 feet 11 inches; Sean Cooper, 300 hurdles, 44.15 seconds; and Creger, 3200-meter run, 10:47.99; notched Almont's outright fifths.
The Almont 3200 relay of Cody Corbin, Dylan Creger, Albert Sowers and Chris Harris generated a fifth as well. They were timed in 9:15.52 en route.
Kyle Podolan, pole vault, 10 feet 6 inches; contributed a two-way tie for a fifth to Almont's cause.
Andy Grant, discus, 124 feet 6 1/2 inches; and Cooper, 110-meter hurdles, 16.83 seconds; rounded out the list of Almont placewinners with sixths.
Tino Siewert, discus, 135 feet 8 inches; and Brendan Pfeifer, 1600 run, 4:44.13; led Capac with seconds.
Siewert, shot put, 42 feet 7 1/2 inches; supplied the lone Capac fourth.
The 400 (Chee Vang, Travis Tullio, Nick Osborn and Eric Withun) and 1600-meter (Ian McDonald, Brian Kulman, Kevin Bollaert and Pfeifer) registered Capac's outright fifths that day. They stopped the watch at 47.03 seconds and 3:45.63, respectively.
Tyler Sawicki, pole vault, 10 feet 6 inches; provided Capac with a two-way tie for a fifth/
Nick Osborn, 100 dash, 12.05 seconds; and Kevin Bollaert, 400-meter dash, 54.34 seconds; gave Capac individual event sixths.
The Capac 800 relay of Brian Kulman, John Richards, Kevin Bolday and Tullio wound up sixth as well that day. They were timed in 1:40.35.
