Imlay City girls pace Tri-City teams at BWAC

TRI-CITY AREA — The Imlay City, Capac and Almont girls' track squads logged respective showings of fifth, sixth and seventh Tuesday, May 20 at the Blue Water Area Conference League Meet hosted by Yale High School.

Algonac took team honors that day, collecting 130 Yale (107.33 points), Cros-Lex (93), Richmond (64.33), Imlay City (50.33), Capac (45), Almont (32) and Armada (five) followed.

A 400-meter relay of Alizabeth Caldwell, Taelor Webb, Becky Hummel and Krissy Swejkowski led Imlay City with a first. They stopped the watch at 53.57 seconds.

Mandy Lacertosa, 3200 run, 12:00.65; gave Imlay City an individual event second.

The Imlay City 800 and 1600-meter relays consisting of Hummel, Caldwell, Webb and Swejkowski wound up with seconds as well. It took them 1:52.46 and 4:17.7, respectively, to accomplish the feat.

Caldwell, 100 dash, 13.58 seconds; generated the lone Imlay City third.

Jo Egholm provided Imlay City with a high jump fourth. She cleared 4 feet 8 inches en route.

Egholm, long jump, 13 feet 8 1/4 inches; and Webb, 200-meter dash, 28.36 seconds; notched Imlay City's fifths.

Swejkowski, high jump, 4 feet 6 inches; supplied the lone Imlay City individual event sixth.

The 3200 relay of Brittany Price, Kassie Brozowski, Ashton Tripp and Sarah Bennett pulled up sixth as well. They stopped the watch at 11:36.63.

Hummel, pole vault, 7 feet; rounded out the list of Imlay City placewinners with a three-way tie for a sixth.

Brandy Bly, shot put, 28 feet 7 1/2 inches; and Melissa Sawicki, 800 (2:31.13) and 1600-meter (5:29.03) runs; paced Capac with thirds.

The Capac 800 (Breeann Bower, Kayla Weber, Danielle Nieman and Marissa Moore) and 1600-meter (Sawicki, Moore, Nieman and Weber) relays garnered thirds as well. They were timed in 1:53.76 and 4:19.33, respectively.

Nieman, pole vault, 7 feet 6 inches; gave Capac a two-way tie for a third.

Moore, 200 dash, 28.22 seconds; secured the lone Capac fourth.

Bly, discus, 84 feet 6 1/2 inches; and Moore, 100-meter dash, 13.72 seconds; furnished Capac's fifths.

Nina Ware, discus, 82 feet 11 inches; notched an individual event sixth for Capac.

A 400 relay consisting of Dominique Coronado, Sarah Boltik, Breann Card and Breeann Bower matched her placing. They were timed in 59.08 seconds.

Lauren Deneweth, 800-meter run, 2:30.65; led Almont with a second.

A 3200-meter relay of Marie Burkland, Scotti Langley, Ellen Glinski and Burkland pulled up third with a school record-setting performance of 10:15.64 en route to a third. They bested the previous standard of 10:19 established by Lauren Rogers, Glinski, Burkland and Deneweth during the 2007 campaign.

Burkland had the next best Almont showing. Her 3200 run time of 12:04.46 paid off with a fourth.

Chelsea Bijansky, pole vault, 7 feet; provided Almont with a fifth.

Langley, 1600-meter run, 5:41.24; collected the lone Almont individual sixth.

An 800 relay lineup completed the list of Almont placewinners with a sixth. They stopped the watch at 2:07.68.
