ALMONT — Almont senior Kyle Henry aced the par-3 14th hole encompassing 86 yards of territory while competing in the Holly Meadows Golf Course-based Brown City Invitational last Wednesday.

It was his first hole-in-one and believed to be the first in the history of the invitational, according to tournament organizers.

Henry's club of choice was a pitching wedge.

"I looked at the scorecard, saw it was 86 yards and took out a pitching wedge from my golf bag," Henry recalled. "I knew that if I did a full swing it would be way over the green," he noted.

"Instead, I took a half swing and made solid contact. It bounced on the green, rolled to the hole and disappeared. I thought oh my gosh, it went in the hole, it went in the hole. The players in my group shouted, they were pretty excited as well."

Harbor Beach's Tom Sorensen, Bad Axe's Pete Salens and Sandusky's Ethan Webster witnessed the ace.

Henry would go on to shoot an 82 over 18 holes that day.
